Student Grant Program

We have a two-stage application process. There are two deadlines during the academic year when applicants can submit a Pre-Application to begin the application process. Applicants can submit Pre-Applications by January 15th or by July 15th each year. Once your Pre-Application is submitted, it will be reviewed by our Application Review Committee, and you will be notified via email if you have been asked to move forward in the application process.

Submissions of Full Applications are by invitation only. If you are selected to submit a Full Application based on your submission in January, your Full Application will be due by July 15th of that same year. If you are selected to submit a Full Application based on your submission in July, your Full Application will be due by the following January on the 15th.

This program is intended for students engaged in psychedelics research as part of their degree program.

Applications will be reviewed by a review committee which comprises SRF Board Members, past grantees, and researchers in the field. We will consider academic merit, financial need, background, and budget & budget justification in our review process.

Awards must be used for direct costs of research being conducted as part of an academic degree program at an institution of higher learning. Applicants from the United States and international locations are welcome to apply. We define “student” broadly, and could include postdoctoral fellows, residents, or interns, as long as they meet all other requirements (e.g., IRB oversight, faculty mentor, etc.). Funds must be used within 1 year. If more time is needed, then the awardee must submit a request for an extension to SRF.

If you have any questions about eligibility or the application process please reach out via email to: contactsrf@sourceresearchfoundation.org.

Diversity Statement

Individuals who identify as a member of a diverse ethnic, racial, gender, religious, or sexual orientation group are especially encouraged to apply. Studies that are designed to address gaps in our understanding of the ways in which the experience of diversity as it relates to psychedelic science and examining psychedelic substance use, or the cultural, environmental, and clinical applications of psychedelics among diversity population are also highly encouraged.

BIPOC Specific Award

In addition to welcoming all applicants of color and projects that have a focus on diversity, each year we will allocate a BIPOC specific award. Applicants can choose to be considered for this award on their applications.
